Tomorrow, Sept 11, is the surgery for the stimulator implantation and connection. Dad will go under general anesthesia this time and this should be an out patient surgery. His walking has become markedly worse over the last week, and we hope that the stimulator will be turned on fairly soon after the installation surgery to give him the relief he is waiting so much for. We should know the appointment date for turning on the stimulator after his surgery tomorrow.
There has also been trouble with his sleeping ability, 24 to 48 hours of no sleep, followed by a long sleep of 10 hours, then more insomnia. We hope this too will go way soon. Recovery has been rough on both Dad and Mom. But Dad stays very positive. The neighbor Jimmy Robinson has been a huge help for them both. He has come over more than once to visit with Dad and watch some movies. This has been helping Mom to get some much needed napping time during the day.
I will drive them up there, and my sweet Karen is planning to meet us up there once again to be with her grandparents and me. She has been a wonderful help and welcome blessing. It helps make all that stressful waiting time so much easier.
