In SICU surgery was a little over 8 hours

Drs said it is a positive outcome, all boarders are clean. The surgery took longer due to so much inflammation and scarring from the pancreatic inflammation years ago that the thoracic surgeon needed to be called in and open another incision to attach the stomach to the esophagus. He has chest drainage tube and is still intubated but heavily medicated so hopefully he will not remember this part. Cindy is spending the night with him and mom and I are going to the cancer society house.

Still in the operating room

The nurse said the dr ran into problems but didn't elaborate. She said dad is doing well and would be out fairly soon. Surgery began at 9cst and should have. Even done by 12:30 cst. The surgery has now been 1:15 longer than expected. Hopefully the surgeon will be out to see us soon. We are very worried.

In Nashville getting ready for the 6am check in

Tomorrow is the big day, with surgery at 8am. Dad got a milkshake before supper ;) Now it's clear liquids only. Lots of prayers are needed that the cancer is contained and only the planned upper 1/2 of his stomach and small portion of the lower esophagus will need to be removed. Karen is taking time from work to be here in the morning, which is huge since she is in the middle of the TVA outage, working 12 hour night shifts. Cindy will fly in at some point tomorrow. At some time tomorrow I will transfer all our luggage to the American Cancer Society house so we can stay there for seven days. What a blessing! Thank you Richard and Maggie Manning for driving me to my parents house today, and providing a much needed visit before we left. Thank you David Schonhoff for including him ( and Brent) in your prayer requests at your Church, and thank you St Jude Church for keeping Dad on the prayer request in the bulletin each week. Thank you to everyone who have been saying prayers and keeping in your thoughts. So far I have seen many positive results from them!
