Relief finally! No more gastric tube down his nose

Plus no more restraints on his arms. Both of those have been MAJOR sources of extreme agitation and anxiety. Even though the sleeping plan didn't happen very well at all, since he couldn't sleep more tan an hour at a time, he is still SO MUCH BETTER today.

In a little while he will be taking the swallow study to asess the esophagus/stomach attachment and we pray it does not leak. If it does not then the chest tube comes out and he gets to drink liquids!

There has been so much progress this morning!

I learned when the nurses ask the standard question "What year is it?" he has trouble so I chime in "Who is the president?" and he gets that one then right away tells the correct year. Ya just gotta know the right way to ask the question!
