Dad's appointment went well with the surgeon Dr Parikh , except for the tumble onto the concrete landing on his head. Life is never boring is it?
The next appointment was with the cardiologist at Vanderbilt and Cindy flew in to drive them to that appointment. His heart medications were reduced and he said he looked really well for what he has been through.
After that Dad saw his new oncologist in Chattanooga. Again, the Dr telling him he is doing really well for what he as been through.
He will see Dr Parikh on the 15th then the oncologist on the 17th and chemotherapy will begin after that. Three rounds of basically the same drugs as before since he responded so well to them before.
Right now it is just the challenge of making sure Dad has good enough nutrition and fluids to keep him strong, and watching his highly fluctuating blood pressure. He gets dizzy sometimes, so much so he passes out, which is a real safety issue when he desires to go do some of the normal stuff he wants to do, that we fear is dangerous for him right now. Trying to hold him down is not an easy task ( is it Dad?) Let's say, it's near impossible. His determination is what gets him through so much, but it can also be a problem when it places him in a dangerous position.
We are all having to try to learn the balance.....
He is still loving every visit. Loving to watch movies with anyone who comes over. (I spied some new titles in the kitchen yesterday).
I'll try to be more regular with the blog. Sometimes other things get behind and I am NOT the most organized person in the world ;-)
This is a blog to keep everyone informed on Dad's Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery in August 2011, and also dealing with malignant stomach endocarcinoma treatment diagnosed November 2011. Brain Surgery Stage 1, 2a, 2b, 3, & 4. Soon the stimulator will be programmed (increased) every three days again with a hand held device.
